Pregnancy & Pre-conception
Bringing another person into this world? What an amazing time! There are so many choices to review and consider during this time period. Our doctors have put together the information you need to have a healthy, vitalistic, holistic pregnancy.
Have you recently got engaged or are looking to have a child 3 months to 1 year down the road? Would you like that child to be healthy? Great! Now is the time to start pre-planning your family’s health.
We now know that epigenetically, what we do prior to getting pregnant and during pregnancy plays a huge role of our children’s health. This is not only for the health of your child when born, but can dictate their health for the rest of their life.
A developing baby needs very specific things to be healthier than average. We have what you need to know to give your growing baby everything it needs. Dr. Cynowa is Webster certified through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) which is a technique to help pregnant mothers be at their best for labor and delivery.
Lifestyle chiropractic care during pregnancy has allowed many mothers around the world to have the great pregnancy they deserve. Our patients regularly report high functioning during pregnancy, shorter labor times, less medication, high labor satisfaction rates and increased probability of a natural healthy birth.
Call our office at 704-899-5000 to schedule an appointment and discuss how to have an amazing healthy pregnancy.
Did you know that over 90% of neural development happens the 1st year of life? That neural development is controlled solely by the nervous system. Dr. Gutman MD., found interference to the 80% of the infants he examined shortly after birth. Any interference to the nervous system affects the normal communication necessary for a developing baby.
Our doctors have a special focus on infants and children while developing. Parents regularly report less ear infections, colds, allergies, antibiotics when their children are under chiropractic care.
Dr. Cynowa has undergone over 220 hours of extensive training through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) and has a passion for helping kiddos achieve their best!
Please call our office at 704-899-5000 if you have any questions about something your child is experiencing or the high level of safety associated with pediatric chiropractic care.
Lifestyle Family Wellness
Chiropractic care is for the entire family. The lifestyles we live contribute to physical, chemical and emotional stress. This puts our nervous system and immune system under stress which leads to ill health. If you are looking for a game plan to maintain your health or regain it, our office will lead you there.
Dr. Cynowa practices Torque Release Technique which is one of the newest techniques in Chiropractic Care helping his patients reach optimal levels of health physically, chemically and emotionally.
Alongside adjusting the nervous system with Chiropractic Care, Dr. Cynowa is the only C.C.W.P. (Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner) in both North and South Carolina. This certification is the gold standard in understanding the major requirements the body needs to maintain an incredibly healthy lifestyle.
To take his patients to an even higher level Dr. Cynowa is also a C.C.E.P. (Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner). Life not only takes a toll on our spine but our joints like knees, shoulders, elbows and wrists as well. Dr. Cynowa is well qualified to help you manage and improve many of these areas in your life as well.
Call 704-899-5000 to schedule your first appointment today. We will thoroughly go through your lifestyle, nervous system and health to help you regain the quality of life you deserve.

Patti Crawford (Lamaze)
Bio: I have an amazingly supportive husband and together we have 5 awesome children as well as 3 beautiful, amazing grandchildren (with hope for more to come). I have been supporting women and families during pregnancy, birth and early parenting for more than 27 years. My first birth experience was so empowering that I soon became addicted to all things pertaining to birth. I began attending the births of family and friends at every opportunity. I have many years' experience as a health educator in public health, providing in-home pregnancy and parenting education as well as labor support. I have been a doula since before I knew what a doula was! I believe with all of my heart that this is God’s calling for my life!
I believe that birth is a sacred event and that a woman has an inner wisdom that guides her through her birth. I passionately believe in a woman’s innate, God given ability to birth her baby! I believe a woman has the right as well as the responsibility to make healthy, informed choices for herself; her pregnancy and her baby, to birth where and how she chooses and to have people around her that fully support these choices. I strongly believe in the importance of wondrous, joyful birth memories! I believe that a positive birth experience will empower new parents in all areas of their lives!

Postpartum doula info:
When I gave birth to my first 3 children my husband and mother both worked full time and they were unable to provide as much help as I would have liked. My mother was able to come and stay with me for a few days after my 4th child was born and I was able to spend memorable time getting to know my newborn as well as introducing her to her big sister and brothers in a calm, relaxing way without worrying about what I was going to feed them for lunch or when I would have time to do the laundry. I felt like a queen! Twenty six years later, I still have such positive memories of that time. I also spent many years providing prenatal and postpartum support and education on a full time basis in a public health setting. I have had much training in all things postpartum including breastfeeding, postpartum emotions, newborn care and early parenting. I am a true believer in the concept of mothering the mother.
Parenting is an amazing and yes, let's be honest, some days exhausting journey! In days gone by, new parents were surrounded by family, friends and neighbors helping out in numerous ways. These days, with some families living quite a distance from each other and everyone having such busy lives, new parents are often left on their own. Although this is a wonderful time for family bonding and getting to know your new baby, an extra pair of hands can be invaluable! Not having to worry about household tasks and having someone knowledgeable and supportive available when needed will allow new parents to concentrate on the more important tasks like getting to know their newborns, as well as getting much needed rest!
Services: tailored to fit needs of family including light housework, light meal preparation, running errands, caring for siblings, breastfeeding education, support and resources, postpartum emotional support and resources. Basic infant care education available if needed (diapering, bathing, etc.)
Training: NWAHEC lactation educator training; parenting education training through NC Maternal Care Coordination/Baby Love Program; NC Child passenger safety training

Short bio: For nearly a decade, it has been my honor to serve women and families in the Charlotte area through education and support. In addition to labor doula services, I teach a wide variety of classes and trainings to benefit anyone – in any phase of life and health! I currently live in South Charlotte with my husband and 5 children. In my non-doula time, I homeschool my children, work part time for Vintage Remedies school of natural health, and sing and play piano with our church band.

Trainings/Certifications: CAPPA Labor Doula™, CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator™, Natural Living Educator (Vintage Remedies)

Elisa Self (Bradley Method Instructor)
Short bio: I'm a trained birth doula and midwifery student who found myself immersed in the world of birth culture during my first pregnancy in 2012. When we welcomed our son in 2014 and both births were such a positive experience - I want that for all moms! I don't believe in the rather common “It’s just one day, you can get through it” attitude – every woman I've met has strong feelings around their birth experience and the memories last a lifetime. I feel that education and support are absolutely the best thing parents need during their transition into parenthood.
Services offered: Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator
Trainings/Certifications: Dar la Luz doula training; Bradley childbirth classes

Email: Laura@ forloveofbaby.com
Training/Certifications: Certified Labor Doula; Certified Childbirth Educator; Certified Lactation Educator;
Certified Postpartum Doula; Certified Lactation Counselor
Biography: I am first and foremost the mother of two wonderful children. It was the birth of my own children
that started me down this path of education and support during the childbearing year. I started my initial training in 2001 as a childbirth educator and since then have been certified not only as a childbirth educator, but also a labor doula, lactation educator and postpartum doula through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association) and a lactation counselor through ALLP (Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice) and am currently working on certification in programs for fitness and nutrition during pregnancy and postpartum.
Since beginning my journey, I have worked with many different families during their pregnancy and labors. These births have included some very long, difficult labors; short, intense labors; unplanned and scheduled
cesareans; successful VBAC’s and twins. I have provided support for both un-medicated and medicated births. I have experience in home, hospital and birth center births as well as excellent working relationships with care providers at many locations in the area.
I also serve as a faculty member for CAPPA in the labor doula, postpartum doula and lactation educator
programs. I am an Advisor for Charlotte Doulas.
I live in the country with my supportive husband of over 20 years, our 2 kids and our cats and dogs. We enjoy many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and biking. I am also an avid reader and a hobby photographer.
Philosophy: I believe that given the evidence, many women would choose to have an un-medicated birth. I
believe that given the proper education and support it is a goal that most women can achieve. It is something that is done in almost all other parts of the world. Unfortunately, the United States lives in a state of "cultural warping of childbirth," where women's belief in their own inherent ability to give birth naturally has been robbed of them due to over-medicalization of birth and an unrealistic view of birth as portrayed in movies, magazines and television. I do believe there is a time and place for every intervention and am thankful for the availability of these technologies when they are needed. I also know that there are many personalities, belief systems and circumstances that lead women to choose to have interventions and I feel that those women also need labor support. Everyone needs a doula!

Number of families served per year: 10-15
